The Blueberry

Our first Ultrasound was done at 9 weeks. Apparently the blueberry was hiding, because our NP was unable to get a good picture of the little guy or girl! She invited us back at 11 weeks to give it another try, and although Travis was unable to come to the appointment with me, I was able to get a short video clip... A little hello from baby to Daddy :) Baby's little squirming in the first few seconds makes my heart melt! I have never seen anything so cute in my entire life!

Here's the clip:

Expecting....

The waiting for our little blueberry has begun! Pregnancy has been a positive experience thus far. I have yet to vomit and my first trimester was uneventful... which I consider a good thing! My biggest complaint up to this point has been fatigue (it's amazing how much energy it takes to make something so small!) ...but now entering my second trimester, I am feeling more energetic and more excited than ever before. It helps to have an amazing husband who is here to support me and to love us (and to do the many chores I don't feel like doing these days!).  The hubby and I can't wait for October to welcome our little bundle of Joy! October can't come soon enough!

Breaking the News

On March 14th, 2010, the TTs ran their FIRST HALF MARATHON!
What were we thinking???
Apparently I was thinking that I am somewhat athletic, a little lie I like to tell myself from time to time :(
Travis crossed the finish line in a little over 90 minutes. Kristin and I paced ourselves at an 11:45 minute mile pace, and finished strong! YAY for the ladies!

Later that day we celebrated my Grandmother's Birthday with my family. Carter made his first family appearance, but stayed outdoors with Mom and Dad to be safe. He may be the cutest little man I have ever seen (I might be biased!).

We also shared the BIG NEWS... finally telling our families that a BABY is one the way!!!!
YAY!!!

Here are a few pics of my favorite little nephew:

Introducing Teresa Skeens, RN, BSN, CCRN

As a nursing student I chose to spend my preceptorship hours in the Intensive Care Unit.  As a new grad, I applied to countless ICU position postings, only to be turned down. After almost three years in the field, I have my first opportunity to return to critical care. Starting in April, I will be transferring to the Surgical ICU at Sutter Memorial! The best part.... I was offered a 12 hour day shift position! It's a great unit and I can't wait to make the transition to working in the ICU (and only having to work every third weekend!!!!) YES!

26? How did THAT happen???

Last week I celebrated my 26th birthday (I say it, but I still can't quite believe it!). My wonderful husband planned a surprise getaway to Nevada City, where we stayed in an old Victorian house that was built in 1860! The "Red Castle Inn" was a new experience for both of us, as we had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. We relaxed and explored the town, and Travis got a little taste of the "simple life!" With no television or radio, Travis turned to a BOOK! That may not sound impressive to many, but it was a side of him I rarely see :) We had a great time away from the chaos of the City, and I am yet again reminded of what a lucky lady I am! Happy Birthday to me!
